William E. Bartley of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday morning at Franciscan Health.  He was 82.

Mr. Bartley was baptized in the Crawfordsville Church of Christ.  He worked 32 years at Raybestos, retiring in 2003.  He served his country in the U.S. Army from Nov. 1963 until his honorable discharge in Nov. 1965.  He enjoyed putting up Christmas lights, political debate, gardening and traveling.  In his younger years, he was an avid bowler.  He had several dogs, all of whom he loved.  Most of all, he loved his family and spending time with them.

Born March 11, 1941 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, he was the son of Herbert Bartley and Marie "Ree" Petett Bartley.  He graduated from Tompkinsville High School in 1959.  He married Hazel Morley Cotten.  She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Hazel Bartley; three daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Fyffe, Tammy (Mike Riley) Patrick, Stephanie (Chad) Rood; six grandchildren, Kristin, Faith, Riley, Meredith, Nolan, Shianna; three step-sons, Thomas Cotten, Ron Cotten, Tim (Jess) Cotten; brother, Rex (Margie) Bartley; sister, Glenda (Rex) Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, John Cotten.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Monday, August 28th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash, Crawfordsville.  Services will begin at 1 PM, led by Jim Howard.  Burial with military rites will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery on S.R. 47 south.
