Virginia H. Wilcox, 87, passed away Saturday June 29 th at Whitlock Place in Crawfordsville.
Born August 1, 1931 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Glen and Mary (Hymer) Hayworth. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1949 and Hanover College. She was a charter member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at Hanover and stayed involved with her chapter.
Virginian was a lifelong member of Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church here in Crawfordsville. She enjoyed her many local memberships; Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Association of University Women, the Montgomery County Historical Society, the Lew Wallace Study and volunteered at the Old Jail.
She married David M. Wilcox on October 11th, 1958, at the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her daughter Susan (Jeff) Mowbray of Crawfordsville and son Bruce (Candra) Wilcox of Loveland, CO. Her six grandchildren include Travis (Cassi) Grundy, and Sean (Molly) Grundy of Crawfordsville, Haley Grundy of Lafayette, IN., Megan (Dan) Whitmer of Stafford, VA, and Jacob and Phillip Wilcox of Loveland, CO. She enjoyed her great-grandchildren Jackson and Kaden Grundy of Crawfordsville, and Milo and Emma Whitmer of Stafford, VA.
A funeral service is planned for Friday, July 12th at 10 a.m. at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery North. Friends and Family may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday July 11th, at Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Burkhart Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements. Family asks that donations be made to: Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Washington Street, Crawfordsville, IN 47933, or the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933 in lieu of flowers.
