Vera Klepfer of Crawfordsville passed away Friday night at Witham in Lebanon with family by her side. She was 94 years old.

Mrs. Klepfer enjoyed canning, freezing foods, making jelly, and was a great cook.  She loved to sew, refinish old furniture and home decorating.  Nothing compared to the love she had for and showed toward her family.

In her early years, she served as a member of the Boone County 4-H promotions and membership committee.  She was a candidate in the 1969 Mrs. Boone County Contest.  She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the Montgomery County Extension Homemakers.

Born Jan. 26, 1927 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of John and LaVera Gorman.  She earned a business degree.  She married Jack R. Klepfer on Sept. 11, 1948 at the Broad Ripple Christian Church and they shared 69 wonderful years together until his passing on May 29, 2018.

Surviving family includes: two sons, Tom (Cindy) Klepfer, Richard (Tura) Klepfer, both of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren, Scott (Lena) Klepfer, Shannon (Jimmy) Bass; two step-grandsons; one great granddaughter, Zoe; eleven step-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Jody.

Private family services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at Burkhart Funeral Home, led by Pastor Duane Mycroft.  After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
