Obituary

Susan Kay Slavens of Crawfordsville passed away suddenly on Thursday morning.  She was 64.

Susan was a cashier at the Culver/St. Clare Hospital for many years.  She attended EastSide Baptist Church and Rock Point.  While at Eastside, she was a beautiful pianist that used her talent to glorify The Lord.  She loved the ocean and liked to vacation by the pool.  She enjoyed The Covered Bridge festival and gardening.  Most of all, she loved being Nana to her grandkids and following all their activities.

Born June 11, 1956 in Norwalk, Ohio, she was the daughter of David Lunney and Norma Hyslop Lunney.  She graduated from Norwalk High School.  She married Thomas Slavens on June 14, 1975 in Crawfordsville.  He survives.

Surviving family includes: husband, Thomas Slavens; three sons, Chad (Catharine) Slavens, Nathan (Julie) Slavens, Ryan (Tracy) Slavens; daughter, Brooke (Brad) Morrison; mother, Norma Lunney; eleven grandchildren, Braiden (Janna), Cole, Riley, Lane, Bracy, Hunter, Molly, Sophie, Will, Maddox, Demi; and her beloved dog, Mavis.

She was preceded in death by her dad and a brother, Paul Lunney.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM Sunday, May 16 th at Stone Creek Lodge, 2865 S. State Road 47, Crawfordsville, with services beginning at 3, led by Pastor Steve Whicker.  A private Graveside service with family and close friends will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery South on Monday at 10 AM.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
