Rita A. Miller

Rita A. Miller, 80, of Crawfordsville, died April 3, 2024.

She was born to Lowell T. and Alta Thompson Ottinger on June 23, 1943 at Crawfordsville.  She was a 1961 graduate of Crawfordsville High School and attended Indiana Business College in Lafayette.  On Sept. 20, 1975 she married Larry Lee Miller.

She worked as a dispatcher at Crawfordsville Police Dept. and a jail officer at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Dept.  After retiring, she was a dispatcher for STAR Ambulance service.  She was a member of New Market Christian Church.

She is survived by: her husband, Larry Miller; four children, Steve (Margo) Coil of Moline, Illinois, Scott (Sommer) Coil of Huntsville, Alabama, Suzy (Al) Koonce of Thorntown, Shawn (Sara) Coil of Dayton, Ohio; two step-sons, Cass (Pat) Miller of Tangier and Jeff Miller of Rockville; seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Ottinger of Atlanta, Georgia as well as her parents.

Public graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday at Pisgah Cemetery in Beckville with Pastors Tony Thomas and Tom Richardson officiating.  Burkhart Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
