Philip Edward Deck passed away with the deep love of his family surrounding him.  Born March 15, 1972, Philip was the beloved son of Ellen Deck and the late Edward E. Deck.  He is survived by his devoted mother, Ellen; his sisters, Christy Deck (Chris) and Deborah Carella (Bob); brother, John Deck (Nola).  He will be dearly missed by his niece, Olivia and nephews, Spencer (Lexi) and Robert Carella, Clifford Hull (Anna) and Clayton, Clint, and Rebekah Davis; plus, his close ties with his aunts and uncles, Carol Jeffries (Tom), Gayle Wolfe (Fred), Janet Sherrill and John W. Deck.  He enjoyed spending time with his many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: George and Pauline Jackson; Lawrence and Geneva Deck.

A 1990 graduate of North Montgomery High School, Philip went on to earn his degree in tool and dye from Vincennes University.  He had a true gift for mechanics, working on machines and working for several factories in that capacity.  He was always quick to offer to help and could efficiently fix or repair just about anything.  He worked for others and especially family in their investment homes and rentals doing amazing work in plumbing, electrical and carpentry.  Always very inventive with difficult problems in construction, Philip was quick to lend a hand to anyone, expecting nothing in return.

More than anything else in life, Philip cherished his family.  He had a soft spot for his niece and nephews, and his presence in their lives was marked by kindness, encouragement, and humor.

Philip faced and struggled with addiction, but he overcame those challenges and emerged with a profound belief in God and family.  He was baptized and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at Colfax Christian Church.  He enjoyed attending and became close to many there as his health would permit.  Church friend, John Gable, will speak at his funeral.

A Type 1 Juvenile diabetic since age 4, Philip faced so many health struggles throughout his life and is finally free of those.  On dialysis for over 6 years, Philip faced a myriad of escalating health problems leading to his death.  Please donate in his honor to Team Mason, c/o Denise Patton, 2193 E. Overcoat Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933, a local charity that honors Mason Patton and contributes to the local Liberty Fresenius Dialysis Center's patients.

Philip's legacy of love, helpfulness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those he touched.  He will be remembered always- with love and with a smile.

Visitation Friday, April 25th from Noon to 3 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.  Services will begin at 3 PM.  A private burial will be held at the Pisgah Cemetery.
