Lucy Birge

Lucy P. Birge passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Lucy was born in Cave City, Kentucky Oct. 8, 1940 to Wilbur Dale Williams and Junie Mae Garner Williams.  She was one of twelve children and the last one standing, losing her 98-year-old sister, Ruby, just days earlier.

She married Horace E. Birge (deceased) on July 6, 1957 and they were proud parents to: Clara G. (the late Michael) Milburn of Crawfordsville; Sandra G. Birge of Indianapolis; Greta L. (Joe) Vacha of Mogadore, Ohio; Gregory E. Birge (deceased); Grant A. (Tracy) Birge of Lafayette; Shannon J. (Tim) Haynes of Dubuque, Iowa; her earth angels, Martha and Kit Wedemeyer of Roachdale; proud grandparent and mamaw to eleven grandkids and GG to fifteen more, and great-great grandma to one.

Per Lucy's request, there will be a graveside service for her family and loved ones at Oak Hill Cemetery North in Crawfordsville on Saturday, May 16th at 11 AM, led by Pastor Brett Abramczyk.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
