Karen Sue Gibson of Crawfordsville passed away Tuesday morning at home.  She was 68.

Born Feb. 15, 1953 in Crawfordsville she was the daughter of Max McCalment and Virginia Welliver McCalment.  She attended Crawfordsville schools.  She married Philip R. Gibson on Oct. 6, 1990 in Crawfordsville.  She spent most of her time as a homemaker, and liked staying home, playing Tetris, Nintendo and euchre.  She also enjoyed court shows.

Surviving family includes: husband, Phil Gibson; two brothers, Jimmy Vowels, Donnie McCalment; two sisters, Reva Bigham, Peggy Black; daughter, Melissa Turpin; grandson she raised, Jesse Turpin, along with six additional grandkids, Sheldon Albright, Dannell Albright, Blake Albright, Dezi Albright, Elijah Albright, and Erikka Turpin.

She was preceded in death by a son, Ernie Turpin, two sisters, Phyllis Turpin, Joyce Pettit, a brother, Ronnie McCalment.

Visitation will be from 1 PM to 3 PM Saturday, July 17th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue.  Services will begin at 3 PM, led by Rev. Vernon Dowell.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
