John Foster

John Thomas Foster of rural Crawfordsville went to be with the Lord Monday evening at home surrounded by family. He was 87.

Mr. Foster was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church where he served as an elder, was very active in the jail ministry, missions and enjoyed church activities. He loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He worked for many years as a machinist with his father-in-law and brother-in-law.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960, stationed on the U.S.S. Yosemite.

Born Dec. 2, 1936 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Harold Bliss Foster and Dorothy Lane Foster.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School and attended college in Iowa.  He married Carolyn Hudson on Dec. 30, 1956 in Crawfordsville.

Surviving family includes: wife, Carolyn Foster of Crawfordsville; four children, Teresa Kaye (Charles) Kriston, John Timothy (Donna) Foster, Tamara Kim (Kevin) Bonebrake, Angela Dawn (Todd) Stamper; fifteen grandchildren, Kerri, Tony, Chelsea, Lacey, Alex, Haley, Kodie, Kullen, Krish, Kiera, Kassidy, Brock, Brett, Breanna and Brooke; twenty-six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from Noon to 2 PM Monday, Sept. 16th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue.  Services will begin at 2 PM, led by Pastor Steve Wilke.  Burial with military rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Grant Avenue.
