John W. Conkright of Linnsburg passed away Monday night in the ER at Franciscan Health.  He was 67.

Mr. Conkright worked at the county highway department for over 27 years.  He enjoyed NASCAR and hanging out in his garage tinkering.  He loved taking golf cart rides with his grandson and any activities that involved his sons or his grandson.

Born Jan. 28, 1956 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of John B. Conkright and Evelyn Eloise Anderson Conkright.  He graduated from Southmont in 1975.

Surviving family includes: two sons, Ryan (Traci) Conkright and Kyle Conkright; mother, Evelyn Conkright; step mother Susan Conkright; grandson, Kellin Conkright; three brothers, Gary Conkright, Tim Conkright and Bill Conkright; two sisters, Julie Ratcliff and Susan Whelan.

He was preceded in death by his father, John B. Conkright; step-father, Ellery "Butch" Conkright; sister, Judy Carrington.

Visitation will be from Noon to 2 PM Sunday, July 2nd at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash.  Services will begin at 2 PM, led by Pastor Todd Randles.  After the service, he will be laid to rest at the Mace Cemetery.
