Obituary

Jessie McCormick Metsker Grimes, 100, of Crawfordsville passed away June 23, 2020 at Wellbrooke.

In 1956, Jessie and her husband, Ralph McCormick, started the McCormick Agency, selling real estate and insurance.  Ralph passed away in 1962, after which she married Bill Metsker and the name changed to the McCormick-Metsker Agency.  She helped many people, brought businesses to town, and did a lot of community development work.  McCormick Drive, in the Rodan Addition, was named after her and Ralph. She was also an early specialist in the development of Lake Holiday.  She was a member of Montgomery County Realtors, which later became MIBOR.  She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, League of Women Voters, ZONTA, and a strong supporter of the Montgomery County Civic Band.

Born April 9, 1920 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Samuel Bass and Lillie Lenore Bass, she graduated from Richland Township High School in Fulton County and later graduated from business school.

Surviving family includes: three sons, Mike McCormick (Nancy), Tim McCormick (Cindy), both of Crawfordsville, Tom McCormick (Nita) of Advance; step-son, Laine Metsker (Sherry) of Crawfordsville; ten grandchildren, Ryan "Pete," Kristin, Carrie, Ben, Jessie, Tim, Matt, Shawn, Alan, Lance; several great-grandchildren; one brother, E.R. "Rod" Bass of Summerfield, Florida.

She was preceded in death by: three husbands, Ralph McCormick, Bill Metsker, Burley Grimes; son, Patrick McCormick; step-son, Alan Metsker; sister, Nicki; two brothers, Doc and Bill Bass.

A gathering to remember the life of Jessie McCormick Metsker Grimes will be held on Sunday, August 8, 2021 from 2 to 4 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Montgomery County Civic Band, attn. Gary Ketchum, P.O. Box 719, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
