Obituary

Jeff Overpeck of Crawfordsville passed away suddenly on Saturday night in his home.  He was 56.

Jeff was a member of First Baptist Church, where he had served on the board of elders.  He also led the Berean Sunday School Class for several years.  He would say he "led" the class because he always felt that he gained from the wisdom in the class more than he gave.  He loved his FBC Family.

He worked at Raybestos for 30 years as an engineering manager.  Jeff was very loyal to his job mostly because he loved so many of the people that he worked with.  They became family too.

In addition to church and work, he liked to play golf.  For years he had a tight knit group who played as often as they could.  He enjoyed these guys very much.  Jeff also enjoyed fishing and woodworking.  Most of all, he loved and adored his family.

He was born Aug. 18, 1963 in Clinton, Indiana to Lawrence and Marjorie Overpeck. His mom died of a brain aneurysm when Jeff was 28 days old.  His father then remarried Jessie Dragoo.  He graduated from Turkey Run High School, class of 1981 and earned a bachelor's degree from Purdue in Industrial Technology in 1984.  He married Trish Jones on May 12, 1984 in Rockville, IN.

Surviving family includes: wife, Trish; son, Nathan, his wife, Bethany and two grandchildren, Cheyenne and Dominic; son, Matt, his wife, Kayla and grandson, Aiden; daughter, Emily Overpeck; six siblings, Lowell, Lyndal, Asenath, Tim, Dan and Jaronna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Ruby, Cy and Joe.

Due to the current national health situation, there will not be a public service for Jeff at this time. There will be a private service on Friday at Burkhart Funeral Home, followed by a burial at Oak Hill Cemetery North.

Donations in memory of Jeff Overpeck may be made to First Baptist Church, 1905 Lebanon Road, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.  Online condolences may be made at www.BurkhartFH.com .
