James R. "Jim" Fry of Crawfordsville passed away suddenly Monday night at his farm. He was 77.
Mr. Fry was a member of First Baptist Church and helped with Gideons International. He served his country in the Navy on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Randolph, based out of Norfolk, Virginia. He loved his kids dearly and loved farming with all his heart.
Born Dec. 1, 1942 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Donald Fry and Mary Wingate Fry. He attended school at Linden and graduated from Waynetown High School. While in the Navy, he married Nancy Johnson on March 11, 1962. She survives.
Surviving family includes: wife, Nancy Fry; daughter, Laura (Tony) Hedrick of Waynetown; son, James Douglas Fry of Crawfordsville; three brothers, Bill (Dorothy) Fry of Ocala, Florida, Joe (Marcia) Fry of Arizona, Jack (Betty) Fry of Riverside, California; sister, Margaret Ann of Boca Raton, Florida; two grandsons, Taylor (Abby) Hedrick, and T.J. Hedrick; great-granddaughter, Grayson Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank.
His wish was to have a simple graveside service and it will be held on Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 PM at the Mace Cemetery, led by Pastor Isaac Zull. Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
