Obituary

Ivan Dean Brewer of rural Crawfordsville passed away Friday morning at home.  He was 87.

Mr. Brewer served his country in the Navy as a Petty Officer during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Haw Creek Church of Christ and American Legion.  He was a quality control manager at R.R. Donnelley, working there 33 years, after which he spent nine years as Vice President of Moore Langen.  He raised cattle, collected model tractors and enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities.

Born May 8, 1934 in Stanford, Kentucky, he was the son of George W. Brewer and Ruby E. Blackaby Brewer.  He graduated from Waveland High School in 1954.  On Sept. 20, 1957 he married the former Carolyn Shelton in Crawfordsville.  She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Carolyn Brewer of Crawfordsville; daughter, Deann Howard (Jim) of Crawfordsville; son Bob Brewer of Lafayette; daughter, Sherri King (Brian) of Crawfordsville; son, Tim Brewer (Ashley) of Carmel; seven grandchildren, Nathan Howard, Matt Howard, Melody Luppino (Josh), Kyle Brewer, Ashten King, Kendra Brewer, Cam King; five brothers, Lawrence Brewer, Maurice Brewer, Don Brewer, Fred Brewer, Dale Brewer; sister, Joyce Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, Aug. 3 rd at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.  The family asks that those coming to consider wearing a mask.  Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home, led by Wes Howard.  Burial will follow at Indian Creek Hill Cemetery with military rites by the American Legion Post 72 honor guard.
