Gerolene "Geri" Long

April 13, 1951 – February 19, 2024

Gerolene Long of Lafayette, Indiana more affectionately known as Geri passed away on February 19, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 72.

Geri was born in Rockcastle County Kentucky to the late Morris and Dorothy Smith McKinney, she was one of 10 siblings. She attended Crawfordsville High School before becoming a Banker at Hoosier Heartland State Bank. On June 7, 2008 she married Robert "Bob" Long, together they loved to travel including spending four weeks in Colorado and many trips to the beach.

Surviving family includes: husband, Bob; children, Steve (Janet) Covington, Tisha (Ryan) DeLeeuw, Shane (Tammy) Long, and Janna Quinn; grandchildren, Hanna (Ken), Austin (Abby), Ryan, Jake, Daegon, Lauren, Adian, Marian, Obi, Cameron, Enoch, Ephriam, Renee; great-grandchildren, Ava, Adele, Archer and Willow; brothers, Gene (Barb) McKinney, Glenn (Mary Rose) McKinney, Doug (Kathy) McKinney, Bennie McKinney, Jerry McKinney, Earl (Cheryl) McKinney; sisters Barbara (Tom) Howell, and Pearl McKinney.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ella Mae Krout; sister-in-law, Janet McKinney; and late husband Charles Douglas.

Visitation will be held at Burkhart Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 2PM to 4PM. Service will follow at 4PM at the funeral home, led by Pastor Tom Camp. After the service Geri will be laid to rest at Oak Hill North Cemetery.
