Gary Dale Grimes

September 22, 1954 to April 15, 2026

Gary Dale Grimes, age 71 of Crawfordsville, passed away in his home at 10:33 AM, Wednesday, April 15, 2026 following a lengthy illness.

Born in Crawfordsville on September 22, 1954 to Alva and Vivian Caldwell Grimes, Gary was a 1972 graduate of Crawfordsville High School. While still in high school he began working at Crown Cork and Seal as a pressman and worked for 43 years until retirement.

On October 17, 1975, Gary married Rhoda Joan Snyder at the Yountsville Church. Gary was known for his outgoing personality and loved making others laugh. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, IU basketball. Gary loved spending time with family and especially loved spending time with his grandkids. After retirement he wintered in Florida and enjoyed traveling.

Surviving family includes: wife, Rhoda Grimes; sons, Jason (Krystal) Grimes, Jeremy Grimes, and Justin (Jenna) Grimes; grandkids, Claire Grimes, Mason Grimes, Allyson Grimes, Andrew Grimes, Benjamin Grimes, Brantley Grimes, Owen Grimes, and Audrey Grimes.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sue Collins, Sharon Bahney, and Cheryl Gano.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt Thank You to Patty Murray and St. Croix Hospice and all our family and friends for their constant care and support.

Visitation for Gary will be on Saturday, April 18 from Noon to 2 PM with service starting at 2 PM led by Denny Morgan at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W Wabash Ave, Crawfordsville, Indiana, 47933.
