Ellen Elder Rogers of Crawfordsville passed away Saturday morning at home.  She was 84.

She was an active member of Woodland Heights Christian Church.

Born July 31, 1935 in Danville, Illinois, she was the daughter of Willard and Lois Trimble Gooden.  She graduated from CHS in 1953 and remained very active as an alumnus.  She retired from Sommer Metalcraft in 1998.

She married Kenneth Elder and had three daughters: Kathy (Denny) Mennen, Kristi (Steve) Stine, Karyn (Dave Bradshaw) Elder, all of whom survive..  She later married J.V. Rogers and added two more children, Todd (Jenny) Rogers and Trisha Rogers.  She is also survived by: grandchildren, Julie (Mike) Voigt, John Rutan, Jill Leonard, Sina (Mickey) Parks, Matt (Rachel) Stine, Kathryn (Jordan) Foland, Austin (Kendra) Denhart, Allison (Blake) Harris, Dylan (Emily) Rogers, Brandon Rogers, Zach Patrick, Andrea Haley, Chloe Yockey; sixteen grandchildren, sister, Janet Evans; several nieces and nephews as well as her neighbors that became her adopted family, Roger and Sharon Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.V. Rogers and her brother-in-law, Terry Evans.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave.  Services will begin at 11 AM Thursday, led by Pastor Steve Wilke.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
