Donald L. Sturgeon

Don was born in the one room log cabin now on display at the Johnson county park on the north side of Camp Atterbury. He was the youngest son born to Waller "Clayton" Sturgeon and Sarah "Etta" Ward Sturgeon. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Eunice (age 7), sister Evanell Trow of Bow, NH, son Mark Sturgeon Chambers and grandson Jason Chambers. Survived by his wife Carolyn Miller Sturgeon of 63 years; brothers Kenneth of New Mexico; Hulan of Silverville IN; son Clint of Cataract IN and grandchildren Megan, Indian Hills CO; Colin, Cataract; Corey, Buffalo NY.
Don served our country with honor and distinction in the 332nd Army Transportation Company in Stuttgart Germany 60-62 and Reserve until '67
Don came to Wallace IN in '56 to live and work with his Uncle Claude Ward and Cousins Harlan, Bane and Orville Ward. He met Carolyn there and they married 8/12/58. They lived a number of places in in Fountain and Montgomery county before settling near New Market from '67-'87, moved to Kokomo '87-'05 and retired to Lafayette in '05.
Don was passionate about driving trucks, which he did from '55-'77; which he traded in for a career in real estate.
There will be a Celebration of life and a 50 year Sturgeon/Ward reunion at the Montgomery county fair grounds in Crawfordsville, on May 28th from 10 am to 5 pm. All friends and family welcome; lunch pitch in at noon.
