Dale E. "Trail" Cohee of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday night at home.  He was 84.

Lovingly known as "Dadaw" to his grandkids, Dale served in the National Guard and worked at R. R. Donnelley for forty years.  After taking early retirement, he worked at Town and Country Home Center where he enjoyed meeting and joking with the staff and customers.  He started his own business, Trail's Handyman Service.  His honesty, trustworthiness and easy-going nature kept him in high demand in households throughout Montgomery County.  He liked to build and fix things, which is one of the reasons he returned to Town and Country to be the maintenance man for Washington Manor, Campus View and Sycamore Apartment complexes.

In his younger days, Dale ran several marathons as well as the Indy Mini Marathon numerous times.  He was a lifelong IU basketball fan who absolutely loved to play golf.  Between his home courses of Muni in Crawfordsville and Cypress Point in Osteen, Florida, he could be found playing high stakes (see loose change) golf matches and bantering (see trash talking) with his golf buddies year-round.  He attended Christ Lutheran Church.  His family was the joy of his life and he was never too busy or too burdened to put his considerable skills to use whenever or wherever they were needed.

Born April 29, 1939 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Norman Cohee and Dora Dale Cohee.  Trail graduated from Darlington High School and on Dec. 24, 1957 he married Bonnie McCance.  She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Bonnie Cohee of Crawfordsville; son, Chris (Tammy) Cohee of New Market; daughter, Joy (Brent) Harlos of Crawfordsville; granddaughter, Maleri (Michael) MacOwan of Wabash; grandson, Nick (Amy) Crull; great-grandsons, Jaxon Cohee and Ayden Crull; great-granddaughter, Jaysa Crull; brother, Mike Cohee; two sisters, Rebecca Branstetter and Mary Ryker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Cohee and a granddaughter, Whitney Lynn Cohee and great-granddaughter, Margaret Lynn "Maggie" MacOwan.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, Feb. 15th at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 W. South Boulevard, led by Pastor Kelly Nelson.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the church.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
