Clifford Ray Knauer, of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday morning at Ben-Hur Health.  He was 88.

Mr. Knauer worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons, retiring from the printing department.  He also did construction work.  He was a member of the Moose and Eagles.  He was an avid hunter.  He was a 1952 graduate of Bainbridge High School.

Born Dec. 7, 1934 near Brick Chapel, he was the son of Joseph Cecil Knauer and Etta Viola Baker Knauer.  He married Patty C. Laughlin on July 4, 1954 and they celebrated 69 years together this summer.

Surviving family includes: wife, Patty Knauer; daughter, Phyllis (Gail) Blackwell; son, John Knauer; daughter, Kathy (Phil) Williams; five grandchildren, Randi, Shawn, Stephanie, Andrew and Ella; twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dennis Knauer, daughter-in-law, Deb Knauer, three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Friday, Sept. 1 at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.  Memorial services will begin at 7 PM, led by Pastor Warren Stewart.  Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery North at a later date.
