Carolyn Louise Shoaf Murray Young

January 8, 1948 to November 30, 2025

Carolyn Louise Shoaf Murrray Young passed away at her daughter's house on November 30, she was 77.

Born in Crawfordsville, on January 8, 1948 to Onia Leon and Mildred Lowery Shoaf. Carolyn married Michael S. Young on April 9, 1978. She worked at Hi-Tek for 18 years as a clerk and retired from Random House after 20 years. Carolyn loved her garden and picking berries. She enjoyed canning and just being out in nature. She raised chickens, ducks and peacocks and she has a love for her dogs and horses.

Surviving family includes: husband, Michael Young; daughters, Claudetta (Joseph) Kader, and Bert (Charlie) Turpin; sons, Chet (Patty) Murray, and Robert Murray; step- children,  Claudia Murray, Pam Murray, Sheila Cooper , Leanne Murray; grandchildren, Nathan Stephenson, Tyler Ward, Lucas Murray, Brandon Kader, Aaron Kader, Trent Murray, Amber Clodfelter, CJ Turpin, Kaleb Turpin, Brittany Turpin, Jasmine Murray and Zachary Murray; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Hayden, Danika, Zayden, Isaac, Xaviar, Julian, Alex, Bryce, Derrick, Alexis, Addisyn, Ashton, Amos, Bentley, Knox, Ezekial, Alarick, Atticus, Hadley, Delaney, and MacKenzie; sisters, Marilyn (Mark) Easterling and Patricia Schuhmacher; brother Oscar (Jody) Shoaf; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her best friend, Waving Lady Nancy Seaman. And all her Amish friends - Elsie, Aaron and Family, Minnow and Family, Chris, Steve, Fannie, Lizzy and many more!

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Onia Lee Shoaf, Charlotte Shoaf, Charlene Belamour and Morris Shoaf; son, Chester Murray; step-son, Tony Murray and grandchildren, Jamie Murray and Arlo Murray.

Visitation for Carolyn will be on Thursday December 4, 2025 at Burkhart Funeral Home from Noon to 2 PM with service at 2 PM, officiated by Pastor Craig Carrell. Burial will follow the service at Mace Cemetery.
