Carol Ann Peterson of Crawfordsville passed away New Year's Eve at Franciscan East in Lafayette.  She was 78 years old.

Carol volunteered for the Crawfordsville hospital for over 40 years, working in and managing the gift shop.  She attended St. Bernard's Catholic Church.  As a young lady, she attended school in Veedersburg.

She was a very giving person and was well known for always having candy with her to give to others.

Born April 2, 1942 in Veedersburg, she was the daughter of Frank Thomas and Martha Bass Harlan.  She married Donald A. Peterson on July 6, 1982.  He passed away Aug. 25, 2011.

Surviving family includes: two daughters, Debra Cary of Terre Haute, Kathy (Todd) Townsend of Crawfordsville; son, Michael (Rita) Peterson of Rockville; brother, Bobby Gene (Marty) Thomas of Kingman, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carol's family will hold a memorial service later  in the Spring.  Details will be announced as they become available.  She will be laid to rest beside Don at Calvary Cemetery.  Arrangements were made through Burkhart Funeral Home.
