Bennie McKinney

August 8, 1948 to October 25, 2025

Bennie "Ben" McKinney passed away suddenly at the age of 77 at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville.

Born on August 8, 1948 in Rockcastle County, Kentucky to Morris and Dorothy Smith McKinney. On August 19, 1967 Ben married Janet Lee Myers, she passed away on January 27, 2018.

Ben owned his own construction business, B&R Construction and worked at the New Ross Lumber yard. He was a volunteer Firefighter for New Ross and spent time as Chief. He took over the care of Mace Cemetery from his IN-LAWS and took great pride in keeping Mace Cemetery looking so nice. Ben was a helper at heart and would always lend a helping hand.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Dana (Jerry) Hess; son, Roger McKinney; grandsons, Payton (Carly) Miller, Devin (Stephanie) Miller, and Jordan Hess; great-granddaughter, Olivia Miller; and siblings Gene, Doug, Glen, Jerry, twin sister Barbara, Earl and Pearl.

Ben was preceded in death by his wife; parents; twin daughters Melissa and Melinda McKinney; sisters, Ella May Krout and Gerolene Long; and nephews Brian Griggs and Scott McKinney.

Visitation for Ben will be on Thursday October 30, 2025 starting at 1 PM until the time of service at 3PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 w Wabash Ave Crawfordsville, IN. Burial will follow the service at Mace Cemetery.

Memorial Donations in honor of Ben can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
