Obituary

Barbara J. Smith, 87, of Mace was welcomed into the kingdom of Heaven surrounded by her loving family on November 4, 2020.

Barbara was born to Merlin and Milderd (Garrigus) Harvey on July 22nd 1933 in Rockville Indiana.  Barbara married Charles R. 'Bob" Smith on December 7, 1949.

Barbara's love for the Lord showed through her fellowship of 60 plus years at Wesleyan Methodist Church (Sonlight) in Crawfordsville Indiana.  Barbara rejoiced in the Lord by listening to her favorite gospel hymns.

Barbara was a true Indiana Hoosier basketball fan.  If you called her during a heated game it could have resulted in a dial tone or a play by play analysis making you laugh so hard you could cry.  She enjoyed spending time at her son's (Jr) Lil Arrow Shop and hearing everyone's hunting stories over the years.  She most importantly loved her family dearly.  She took pride and joy over all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren's life achievements.

Preceded in death by her late husband of 65 plus years Charles R. "Bob" Smith, sister Carol (Harvey) Bartlett, son Charles R "Charlie" Smith Jr., and daughter Jeanette S. Newlin.

Survivors include: Roy (Cindy) Smith of New Market; Sharon "Shari" (Brian) Sillery of Parkersburg; son-in-law Mike Newlin of Crawfordsville; grandchildren Brandy (Jeremy) Bennett, Christin Fisher, Jennifer (Matthew) McGaughey, Anthony (Rhonda) Smith, and Adam (Jamie) Smith; great grandchildren, Owen Bennett, Karley Fisher, Charlotte Fisher, Cody (Skye) Smith, Brieana (Brody) Pickett, Ashley (Marshall) Stadler, and Chelsea Smith; great-great grandchildren, Ryder, Piper, and Nora.

Family and Friends can pay their respects Saturday from 1-3 at Burkhart Funeral Home, in Crawfordsville.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home directly after the viewing, led by Pastor Keith and Dennis Jones.  Burial will follow at Mace Cemetery.

The family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
