William D. "Bill" Clifton of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, Nov. 20 at Franciscan Health.  He was 95.

Bill was a farmer and retail fertilizer salesman for many years.  He was a member of the Elks, 50 year member of both the Montgomery Co. Shrine Club and Masonic Lodge.  He was a graduate of Linden High School.

Born Oct. 9, 1925 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Russell Clifton and Grace McMurray Clifton.  He married Ione Richardson March 10, 1946 in Crawfordsville.  She passed away March 27, 2008.

Survivors include: son, Jay (Mandy) Clifton of Rockville; son-in-law, Chuck Switzer of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren, Christy (Dan) Hughes, Michael Switzer, Jason (John) Clifton, Jackson Clifton, Joe Clifton; four great-grandchildren, Corbin Hughes, Jessica Hughes, Grayson Hughes, and Shianne Switzer.

In addition to his wife, Ione Clifton, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Switzer and sister, Thelma Royer.

Private family services will be held at Burkhart Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest at the Oak Hill Cemetery on Grant Ave.
