Troy Allen Shirar, 52, of rural Crawfordsville, passed away on Sunday August 23 at Franciscan Health. He was born September 14, 1967 at Home Hospital in Lafayette, to James Shirar and Deborah (Shirar) Harvey.
Troy graduated in 1986 from North Putnam High School. He was a life-long truck driver, who partnered with his brother Trent Shirar to form "Shirar Trucking." He was also an owner-operator leased to Besl Transfer Co. He enjoyed working on his trucks, good food and cooking shows. His favorite activities included camping, traveling, fishing, raising animals, playing poker, and going to Casinos. He loved spending time with family, friends and especially his children. Troy was a very caring, loving man with a huge heart and always looking out for those he loved.
Troy married Karissa Cedar April 22, 1999 in Cayuga. Karissa preceded him in death April 19, 2002. The couple share a son, Jeffery Allen Shirar of Crawfordsville. He was also dad to Matthew Boyer of Attica, and Nathan Boyer of Illinois and grandpa to four.
Troy later moved to Rural Crawfordsville where he met his loving partner, Patsy Gordon, The couple share a daughter, Kendal Shirar, He was also dad to Donnovan and Adrian Reyes, all at home. The couple were foster parents for nine years with many children finding a safe haven in his heart and home.
In addition to his wife, Troy was also preceded in death by his father, James Shirar, Parkersburg, grandparents Edgar and Evelyn Shirar, Darlington, brother Johnathan (Lisa) Albright, Ladoga, and Sister LaVonda Albright, Parkersburg.
Survivors also include: his parents, Richard and Deborah Harvey, Alvin, Illinois; three brothers, Trent (Toni) Shirar, rural Crawfordsville, Ken and Keith Albright, Crawfordsville; two sisters, Rhonda (Larry) Morphew, Roachdale; Robin (Tim) Pettice, Ladoga, and 13 nieces and nephews whom he mentored when needed. Troy shared a special bond with his oldest nephew Timothy (Rebecca) Pettice, Darlington and niece Starlet Morphew, Russellville, whom he loved, looked out for, and mentored as his own.
Visitations will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, August 28, 2020 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville. Troy will be transported to his final resting spot by his son Jeffery Shirar, on the back of his Peterbilt with a convoy led by his Brother, Trent Shirar and all his fellow truckers to follow. Graveside services will be at 11 am Saturday August 29, at Eugene Cemetery in Cayuga, Indiana.
