Obituary

Timothy Wayne "Tim" Simpson, 54, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2026.

Born on August 17, 1971, in Crawfordsville, Indiana, Tim was the son of Max and Lavonne (Widger) Simpson. Raised in a hardworking farming family, Tim grew up watching his parents balance careers at Donnelley's and Walmart Optical while also caring for their farmland. Some of his favorite childhood memories were made at the Montgomery County 4-H Fair, where he enjoyed animal shows and spending time with family and friends.

Following high school, Tim proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a career as a steelworker. In 2004, he married Mary "Mini"(Chorazak) Simpson, and together they built a family centered on love and laughter. They were blessed with two children, Collin and Jaimee.

Family was Tim's greatest joy. He rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his children, often rearranging his work schedule so he could attend choir concerts, football games, volleyball matches, and, of course, dance performances. He showed up for his kids, volunteering to help with their class spelling, selling tickets or concessions or just dropping off food or drinks, when they needed him.  He was affectionately known as the family's "Fuel Fairy," quietly making sure everyone's vehicle always had a full tank of gas.

Tim had a gift for making every gathering more fun. He loved music—especially his music—and never hesitated to sing along at full volume while encouraging everyone else to join in. Whether it was creating the perfect playlist for family events, long drives or choosing walk-up songs for fantasy football drafts.  Tim knew how to bring energy, laughter, and unforgettable memories to every occasion.

A devoted sports fan, Tim cheered passionately for Larry Bird, Bobby Knight, the Chicago Cubs, and just about every Indiana team. In recent years, he unwittingly converted to a Buffalo Bills fan.

Tim was a faithful member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and remained proud of his service as an Army veteran throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving parents, Max and Lavonne Simpson; his beloved wife, Mary "Mini" Simpson; his children, Collin Simpson and Jaimee Simpson; and his brother, Trevor (Kristina) Simpson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
