Russell Martin of Crawfordsville passed away Friday at Franciscan East in Lafayette.  He was 81.

Mr. Martin worked at Sommer Metalcraft for 49 years.  He loved sports and was a hat fanatic.

Born April 26, 1939 in Winchester, Indiana, he was the son of Keith Martin and Georgia Showalter Martin.  He graduated from Fountain City High School.  He married the former Lois Boller on June 13, 1965.  She survives.

He is survived by his loving family, which includes: wife, Lois Martin of Crawfordsville; two daughters, SuzAnn I. Hamilton (Chris) of Mooresville, NC, Deborah M. Tanner (Chris) of Dillsboro, IN; brother, Mearil "Snork" Martin; two grandsons, Brayden Tanner, Braxton Tanner; sister-in-law, Martha Stinchcomb (Richard); three brothers-in-law, Larry Bolller, Jerry Boller (Doris), David Boller (Cathy); several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, David Martin and sister, Shirley Thompson.

Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Attendees are asked to follow all CDC guidelines, including social distancing and wearing a mask.  A private, family service will be held at 1 that will be available on the funeral home Facebook page.  Entombment will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
