Rita Kay Blanton of Waveland passed away Tuesday morning in her home.  She was 72.

She loved reading, watching movies and Andy Griffith.  When she was younger, she liked to dance and would square dance with her parents.  She also liked music and baking.  Mostly, she was crazy about her dog, Raven.

Born Feb. 25, 1948 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Leslie Allen and Bonnie Bowles Allen.  She graduated from Waveland High School in 1966.  She married Lee Roy Blanton on June 15, 1968 in Crawfordsville.  He survives.

Surviving family includes: husband, Lee Roy Blanton of Waveland; two sons, Ronald Lee Blanton and Daniel Joe (Marcy) Blanton; son-in-law, Jose Farfán; seven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sherri Farfán, brother, Scott Allen and nephew, Brad Allen.

Services for family and a few close friends will be Friday, Jan. 29 at 2 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, led by Pastor Vernon Dowell.  Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
