Obituary

Richard Pack, 90, of Crawfordsville, Indiana passed away Wednesday September 13, 2023 at Franciscan East in Lafayette, Indiana.

Richard was born September 18, 1932 in Houston Texas, the son of Frances Necco Pack and Hollis O. Pack. He was a graduate of Yazoo City High School, Yazoo City Mississippi. Attended Purdue University and graduated from the Indiana State Police Academy in 1956. He joined the Indiana State Police as a trooper. Richard retired in 1976 as a sergeant after 20 years serving Montgomery County. After his retirement he began a second career as a safety Inspector with Fauber Construction.

Richard married Sharon A. Cochran on December 18, 1964. Richard was the love of Sharon's life and she was for him. He and Sharon enjoyed the years together living in the country with horses, many cats and dogs, country dancing, being snow birds in Florida and many card games with family and friends. Richard especially enjoyed target shooting with his sons and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite, VFW, Moose Lodges in Florida, and Sons of American Legion Darlington Post.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon; sons, Ryan N. Pack of McCordsville, Indiana and Richard (Connie) Pack Jr. of Crawfordsville, Indiana; daughter, Dennie (Ken) Walters of Avon, Indiana; Five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, step-father, and his brother and sister-in-law.

Cremation was chosen with a memorial service at 3PM on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Darlington American Legion with a Celebration of Life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard's name can be made to Darlington American Legion Post 302, 201 W. South St, Darlington, IN 47940 or the Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, 1104 Big 4 Arch Rd, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
