Nellie Weatherford

Nellie Mae Weatherford, 83, of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, January 16th.

Born March 6,1940 she was the daughter of Earl Cooper and Bill and Mavis Thomas of Lafayette In. She attended Wea Ridge and Jefferson High School. She married Robert Weatherford in 1961 and they divorced in 1982.

She was a homemaker and former employee of Ben-Hur Nursing Home. A loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed music, dancing, thrifting, yard selling, true crime tv and cookouts with family. Nellie was fun loving and carefree with many friends. She was very much loved and known as 'nana'' to most everyone in her circle.

Surviving family include: one daughter, Rischa (Harold) Zaler of Florida; two sons, Rick (Bev) Weatherford of Evansville, Indiana and Robert Weatherford Jr of Waynetown, Indiana; also 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Weatherford, parents, Earl Cooper and Bill and Mavis Thomas, a brother, Jerry Cooper and sister, Darlene Richmond.

A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday January 24th at the Farmers Institute Cemetery with pastor Randy Glenn officiating. Arrangements made through Burkhart Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of life ceremony on February 4 from 12:00 - 4 pm at the Crawfordsville Park and Rec.
