Melinda Lee Scattergood

Melinda Lee “Mindy” Scattergood of Crawfordsville passed away Friday, Sept 4th at the age of 68.

Mindy loved sports, Purdue and the Chicago Cubs, as well as watching basketball and football. She loved cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Born Jan. 31, 1958 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Ramon Hamm and Rita Scaggs Hamm. She graduated from North Montgomery in 1976. She worked at Hi-Tek for 13 years and then at the Park and Rec, driving the Sunshine Van. She later worked 10 years at Wal-Mart until health problems forced her to retire.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Julie Scattergood; son, Greg Scattergood, Jr.; mother, Rita Hamm; brother, David Hamm (Shelly); four grandchildren, Kya Scattergood, Ethan Scattergood (Hailey), Mea Scattergood, Carter Scattergood; one great-grandchild, Ross Scattergood; sister-in-law, Joy St. Martin; niece, Aubrey Utterback Thompson (Jim); two nephews, David Joseph Hamm, Bradley Harrington (Ashley).

She was preceded in death by her dad, Ramon Hamm, her brother, Rusty Hamm and a niece Sydney Hamm.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM on Oct. 24th at the First Baptist Church. Burkhart Funeral Home was entrusted with cremation arrangements.
