Maxine Booker

May 22, 1922-May 24, 2023

Maxine Booker of Crawfordsville passed away Wednesday night at Wellbrooke having turned 101 on Monday.

Mrs. Booker was a long-time member of First Baptist Church.  She worked at R.R. Donnelley and later with J.P. Allen, CPA.  She attended school at Browns Valley and graduated from Waveland High School.

Born May 22, 1922 at the family farm near Browns Valley, she was the daughter of Benjamin H. Wilson and Hazel E. Bradford Wilson.  She married Carl Booker on Dec. 1, 1945.  He passed away Dec. 15, 1996.

Surviving family includes: son, David Booker (Sandy) of Crawfordsville; two grandchildren, Tom Booker (Jenny) and Jami Booker; three great-grandchildren, Johnovan Smith, Max Booker and Lyric Booker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother, George and brother, Hubert Wilson.

Private graveside services will be held at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.  The family has requested the omission of flowers.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
