Max G. Keller of Crawfordsville passed away Friday night.  He was 81.

Max loved to play pool and enjoyed teaching others about the game.  He enjoyed sports, especially IU basketball.  He liked crosswords, corny humor, enjoying time with family and was a very good cook.  He served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1963.  Starting in 1963 he went to work at Indiana Bell and worked his way up until retiring in 1993, by which time it was known as Ameritech.  He was a member of the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville.

Born July 16, 1938 in Bruceville, Indiana, he was the son of Robert Keller and Viola Thomas Keller.  He graduated from Bruceville High School in 1956 and went to Vincennes, where he played basketball.  He married Sally Downey Keller on July 23, 1960 at the Bruceville Christian Church.  She passed away Aug. 11, 2017.

Surviving family includes: son, Keith Keller of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Karen Keller of Noblesville and Kathy Lee of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Eliza, Joshua, Alison and Kaitley.

Visitation will be from 1 PM to 3 PM Thursday, Sept. 19 th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Avenue.  Services will begin at 3 PM, led by Pastor Darla Goodrich.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
