Marylyn Showalter of Crawfordsville passed away Friday night at Franciscan Health at the age of 90.

Mrs. Showalter was a unique, entertaining individual that loved her family unconditionally.  She enjoyed the family cabin property by Sugar Creek, often going there with her son, Joe and her dog, Lola.  She hiked the Appalachian Trail when she was 64.  She previously worked as a secretary in the Prosecutor's Office under Conrad Harvey and later as a bookkeeper in the Parks Department.  In between, she had stints as a stay-at-home mom, taking loving care of her family.  She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Crawfordsville.

Born July 29, 1933 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Fred Stout and Edna Mae Lough Stout.  She attended Mt. Zion School and graduated from Crawfordsville High School.  She married Tom Kent Showalter, Jr. in 1951 and he passed away in 1984.

Surviving family includes: daughter, Shari Showalter Leffel; son, Joe Showalter; two granddaughters, Lindsey Franke (Christian) and Chelsey Thomas (Jacob); two great-grandsons, Zane Franke and Benjamin Thomas; two brothers, Ted Stout (Carol) and Dan Stout (Penny); two sisters-in-law, Michele Stout and Carol Stout; along with many nieces and nephews, as well as her little bichon, Lola.

She was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; son, Doug Showalter; two brothers, David and Harold Stout; and her companion of 19 years, Jim Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, Sept 28th at Christ Lutheran Church, 300 W. South Blvd., Crawfordsville, with visitation from 10 AM until 11.  Private burial will take place at the Alamo Cemetery.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
