Linda J. Gray

Linda J. Gray of rural Crawfordsville, while at home and surrounded by family, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday at the age of 58.

Mrs. Gray provided loving daycare for many children over many years, starting in the late 80s and continuing through the summer of 2024. She was a devout Christian. She read the Bible cover-to-cover many times, devoutly following her Lord's teachings. She grew up in the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville and later was a member of the New Richmond Christian Church. She more recently developed a spiritual connection to the Southern Baptists.

She liked birdwatching and was especially fond of North American bald Eagles. She enjoyed gardening and was an avid reader. Most of all, she loved her family and took care of them with endless love.

Born Oct. 2, 1966 in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Luther Lofland and Sandra Wheeler Lofland. She graduated from North Montgomery in 1984 and attended beauty school. She married David Gray on Sept. 21, 1985 in Crawfordsville.

Surviving family includes: husband, David Gray of Crawfordsville; daughter, Emily Goldsmith of West Lafayette; son, Charlie Gray of Crawfordsville; mother, Sandy Lofland Brown of Crawfordsville; brother, Luther Lofland, Jr. of Fishers; two sisters, Lisa May of Crawfordsville and Luanne Cole of Hoodsport, Washington; one granddaughter, whom she loved dearly, Lily Goldsmith.

She was preceded in death by her dad.

Visitation will be Monday, July 28th from 11 AM to 1 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1 PM. After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
