Obituary

L. Lee Abney of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday afternoon at the age of 80.

Lee enjoyed coon hunting.  He drove a stock car at several local tracks and enjoyed tinkering with cars.  He worked most of his life as a painter.  Lee was a good man who raised a good family.

Born Aug. 7, 1945 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of John F. Abney and Edith Abney Norton.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School.  He married the former Phyllis King on Dec. 12, 1963 in Roachdale.  She survives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Phyllis Abney of Crawfordsville; three sons, Jeff Abney (Lori), Greg Abney (Charlene), Shane Abney (Jennifer); one daughter, Angie Abney; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Terry Abney; sister, Pam McIntyre.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Mike, Dude, and Gary Abney.

Visitation will be from 12 Noon until 2 PM on Monday, July 6th at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue.  Services will begin at 2 PM, officiated by Pastor Steve Lee.  After the service, he will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery South.
