Judith Kay "Judy" McFerran of Crawfordsville passed away Sunday morning at Wellbrooke at the age of 82.

Mrs. McFerran taught first grade for over 30 years, starting in Crawfordsville and then Mt. Zion, but her longest tenure was at Sommer Elementary.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.  She had a passion for teaching, sharing coffee with friends on her porch, and studying the Word.

Born May 18, 1943 in Beech Grove, she was the daughter of Everett Hopper and Della Mae (Johnson) Hopper.  She earned her teaching degree at Indiana State University.

Surviving family includes: grandson, Toby Kuhnke of Chicago; cousin, Doris Boone; two step-siblings, Shirley Foutz, and Connie Seward.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy McFerran, husband, Bill McFerran, brother, James Hopper and step-brother, Larry Laudig.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 PM Friday at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will begin at 3 PM.  After the service, she will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
