J.R. Powers of New Ross passed away at home at the age of 51.

J.R. loved attending races.  He also enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, swimming and bonfires.  He liked hanging out with friends, and the TV show Yellowstone.

Born Nov. 5, 1973 in Greencastle, Indiana, he was the son of James R. Powers and Jean Ann Hutchison Pearcy.  He graduated from Southmont and worked as a forklift driver.

Surviving family includes: mother, Jean Ann Pearcy of Crawfordsville; an aunt, Sarah Bradley-Warren; his close friends, Kanisha Castleberry and her family, Andrew Fletcher and his family, Joshua Shaw and his family as well as Tonya Hargis and her family, along with many other friends and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his dad.

A remembrance of J.R. will be held by his family and close friends.  Cremation arrangements were made through Burkhart Funeral Home.
