Jesús "Chuy" Villalpando was called home to be reunited with his Lord and Savior on November 6, 2023. He was 72 years old. He was born on November 8, 1950, in Jalpa, Zacatecas, Mexico. He was the first of eight children born to Jose Isabel and Socorro Villalpando.

Jesús married the love of his life, Petra (Martinez) Villalpando, on April 19, 1980 in Chicago, Illinois. They were happily married for 43 years. They were blessed with three children: Noemy, Alfredo, and Jesús. He immigrated to the United States in 1970, where he began a new life in Chicago, Illinois. In 1992, he moved his family to Crawfordsville, Indiana where he continued his employment with Crawford Industries (now Spartech). He was a dedicated employee for 38 years, where he was recognized for being a great employee and having perfect attendance. Jesús, along with his wife, were faithful members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church since their arrival in Crawfordsville. He was a man of great faith and could always be found volunteering within the church. He greatly enjoyed hosting cookouts for his family and friends, as he was a wonderful cook. He always found pleasure in spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, and everyone who spent time with him could always be found laughing. He was a loving husband, a guiding father, a wonderful grandfather, and a thoughtful son. He will be greatly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.


Jesús is survived by his wife Petra; his three children Noemy (Ulises) Vargas, Alfredo (Lindsey) Villalpando, and Jesús (Marlene) Villalpando; his parents Jose Isabel and Socorro Villalpando; his grandchildren Santiago Vargas, Emma Vargas, Mia Vargas, and Chase Villalpando; his seven siblings Obdulia, Homero, Celia, Manuel, Jose Luis, Gloria, and Maria Isabel; also, many nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be on Monday, November 13th from 3 PM to 7 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue. A funeral Mass, led by Father Michael Bower, will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 11 AM at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 1306 East Main Street. A Jesús le sobreviven su esposa Petra; sus tres hijos Noemy (Ulises) Vargas, Alfredo (Lindsey) Villalpando y Jesús (Marlene) Villalpando; sus padres José Isabel y Socorro Villalpando; sus nietos Santiago Vargas, Emma Vargas, Mia Vargas y Chase Villalpando; sus siete hermanos Obdulia, Homero, Celia, Manuel, José Luis, Gloria y María Isabel; y muchos sobrinos.


El velorio será el lunes 13 de noviembre de 3 PM a 7 PM en Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue. El martes 14 de noviembre a las 11 AM será la Misa fúnebre en la Iglesia Católica de San Bernardo, 1306 East Main Street. La Misa la celebrará el Padre Michael Bower. Después de la Misa será la procesión al cementerio Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
