Jerry Watt, Sr. of Crawfordsville passed away surrounded by love on Wednesday, May 28th at his daughter's house in Cayuga, Indiana at the age of 85.
Jerry loved fishing and coon hunting. He enjoyed working with his hands and spent his working life as a maintenance worker at Plastene's, until it closed, then at Crawford Industries, retiring from there. He worked those jobs at night and often farmed during the day. He loved having a big garden with many different vegetables. He raced motorcycles and also raced go-karts for many years, even competing against some of his own children. He was a life-time member of the Ben-Hur Speedway. He enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid bowler, competing in many local leagues as well as tournaments across many of the surrounding states.
Born May 16, 1940 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Lewis E. Watt and Alma Moore Watt. He attended Crawfordsville schools. He married Clova L. Conkright Watt on Nov. 12, 1976 and she passed away March 24, 2021.
Surviving family includes: ten children, Larry Watt of Linden, Mike Watt of Crawfordsville, Rick Watt (Mary) of Crawfordsville, Debbe Behling (Jeremy) of Martinsville, David Watt (Jesselle) of Crawfordsville, Jerry Watt, Jr. (Andrew) of Lebanon, Jenny Bennett (Steve) of Crawfordsville, Scott Watt of Crawfordsville, April Sams (Troy) of Cayuga, Brittney Browning (Darin) of Mace; twenty-eight grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Clova Watt, a son, Daniel Watt and two brothers, Terry and Duane Watt.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th from 5 to 7 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 W. Wabash Ave. A memorial service will begin at 7 PM, led by Pastor Ron Brown.
