Jerry Lee Renick passed away Wednesday afternoon at Methodist Hospital.  He was 78.

Jerry farmed at various times throughout his life.  He was the Town Marshall in Darlington for many years and he later worked at Nucor Steel, retiring from there.  He was willing to help anybody and everybody.  He served as a Scout leader, school bus driver, and volunteer firefighter.  He was an Army veteran and served in the National Guard.  He was a member of the American Legion as well as the 40 & 8.

Born May 28, 1947 in Lafayette, he was the son of Wilbert Renick, Sr., and Elsie Renick.  He graduated from Darlington High School in 1965 and attended the Indiana Police Academy in Plainfield.  He married Mary Jane Fitzsimmons on Oct. 8, 1967 at the Congregational Christian Church in Darlington and they recently celebrated 58 years together.

Surviving family includes: wife, Mary Jane Renick of Crawfordsville; two daughters, Missy Gibson, and Jennifer Price (Cordell); son, Jeff Renick (Jeanne); two brothers, Bert Renick and Darrell Renick; sister, Lana Renick; four grandchildren, Nick Renick (Bridgit), A. C. Rudolph, Kesean Gibson (Tiffani), Alexis Rudolph; four great-grandchildren, Adryan, Austin, Ian and Theo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patricia "Pat" Renick.

Visitation will be from Noon to 3 PM Sunday at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.  Services will begin at 3, led by his nephew, Pastor Chris Renick.  After the service, he will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington.
