Janet Hocquard of Crawfordsville peacefully passed away Saturday, Aug. 7 at Franciscan East in Lafayette.  She was 70 years old.

Born June 23, 1951 in Painesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Albert Rowan and Arie Mae Rowan McCauley.  She attended school at Painesville.  She married Leon David Hocquard, Sr.  She worked as a CNA and did commercial sewing.  She was selfless, devoted matriarch to the family; a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend

Surviving family includes: husband of 48 years, Leon Hocquard, Sr.;  three daughters, Robin Cunningham, Robbie (Paul) Misner, Marvel Ritter; two sons, Leon Hocquard, Jr. and Sonny Hocquard;; two granddaughters that she raised, Winter (Kyle) Shahan and Autumn Hocquard; granddaughter, Katelyn Beverlin; great-granddaughter, Novahlee Shahan; niece, Judi Rowan (Roland) Cruikshank; and  nephew that she raised, Billy Ross.

She was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters and a great-grandson, David Leon Hocquard III.

In keeping with her wishes, there will not be any public visitation or funeral.  A private graveside service will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, August 11 ^th at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Darlington.  Arrangements were entrusted to Burkhart Funeral Home.
