Obituary

James L. Wilson passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon. He was 85. Jim taught 7th grade science for 42 years, mostly at Wainwright Middle School in Lafayette. He loved working on tractors, motorcycles and cars. He could fix just about anything with a motor. He also loved IU which led to a playful rivalry with his wife, who is an avid Purdue fan.
Jim loved to sing and was a member of the Sunshine Chorus. He was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church for over twenty years and formerly a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Born May 10, 1938, in Howesville, Indiana, he was the son of James Louis Wilson and Oletha Griffith. He graduated from Switz City Central High School in 1956, Greenville College in 1962, and received his master's degree from University of Georgia in 1970.
He was married to Flora Huseman for 61 years. Also surviving are three daughters: Jackie McBride, Janet (Mark) Parker, and Joan Wilson; four grandchildren: Joy (Tyler) Pouros, Sarah Surber, Grant Parker and Zoe Parker; brother Bill Wilson and sister Ann Frye. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm Saturday, September 16 at Woodland Heights Christian Church. Services will begin at noon. A private entombment service for family only will follow.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations be made to FISH food pantry, 1306 E. Main Street, Crawfordsville or Woodland Heights Christian Church, 468 N. Woodland Heights Drive, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
