Obituary

James Isaac "Jim" Denman

March 7, 1960-June 8, 2024

James Isaac "Jim" Denman of Waynetown passed away Saturday morning at home, at the age of 64.

Born March 7, 1960 in Crawfordsville, he was the son of Lowell Denman and Betty West Denman Hall.  He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1978.  He married Frances Beck Denman on August 12, 1978.  She passed away Feb. 14, 2021.  He married Amy Kindt Cooper on Nov. 14, 2021.  She survives.

Jim was a skilled tool and die maker and shop manager for Closure Systems International in Crawfordsville; he also worked for Indiana Precision.   His career spanned over 40 years, and his unseen influence can be found on various plastic bottle caps.  He retired in January of this year.

Jim was also a very skilled musician, song writer, and luthier.  He played the guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin.  He has a large body of work that can be found on his YouTube channel.   Jim started his music career as little Jimmy Denman, traveling the country playing bluegrass with his father and brothers.  He wowed on-lookers with his incredibly high voice and a prowess on the banjo that was beyond his years.   As an adult he became recognized as a song writer and minister.   Some of his songs have been recorded by a national artist, and many are still played in churches around the community.

Everyone that encountered Jim could see that there was something different about him.   His love for the Lord shined through every fiber of his being.   He spent many years preaching and teaching.   If you knew him, it was plain to see he loved the Lord with all his heart and loved his neighbor as himself.

Surviving family include wife, Amy Denman; daughter, Lori Baker; two sons, Levi Denman, and Luke (Amanda) Denman; six grandchildren, Machiah, Jude, Lyric, Gibson, Emery, Paige; brother, Dan (Cheryl) Denman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Frances, and brother, Dave Denman.

Visitation for Jim Denman will be Friday, June 14th from 4 to 8 PM at Burkhart Funeral Home.  Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday at Harvest Fellowship led by Pastor Tom Camp.  Burial will follow at Wallace Lutheran Cemetery.    Immediately following will be a jam at Baldwin Field in Milligan Park.     All are welcome to bring a lawn chair and participate, or just enjoy great music and fellowship.
