Obituary

Ivan D. Eppert of Crawfordsville passed away at home on Wednesday, Sept. 11th.  He was 86.

Ivan was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Wallace, Indiana.  He was previously a member of the Eagles and Moose.  He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard.  He worked at Harrison Steel, then at Current Tech for 14 years and R.R. Donnelley for 43 ½ years and later helped Johnny Barnes with hauling.  He liked doing outdoor activities, including fishing, mushroom hunting, playing golf, softball and playing euchre.  He also enjoyed go-karting and watching the sun rise with his sons.

Born Dec. 18, 1937 in Rockville, Indiana, he was the son of Clyde Everett Eppert and Inez C. Snodgrass Eppert.  He graduated from Bloomingdale High School and was offered a scholarship to play college baseball, which he declined.  He married Barb Haas on March 1, 1964.  Together they raised seven children.

Surviving family includes: wife, Barb Eppert; sons, Scott Eppert and Randy (Jackie) Harwood; three daughters, Ann Gossett, Susan Mann and Charna Watson; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, along with his dog, Brodie.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two children, Janice Eppert and Mike Harwood; sister, Phyllis; two grandchildren, Chelsea Mann and Matthew Watson; three cousins; two nieces; two great-nieces; one great-nephew as well as two dogs, Coco and Zeus.

Memorial visitation will be at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash, from Noon to 2 PM Saturday, September 21st with Masonic Rites at the close of visitation.  Services will begin at 2 PM.   After the service, he will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery North with military rites.
