Obituary

Gladys Lily Olszyk of Kentland passed away Thursday morning at Franciscan Health in Crawfordsville.  She was 92.

Born Nov. 8, 1928 in Liverpool, England, she was the daughter of William Miller and Edith Todd Miller.  She and her family survived the Blitz during World War II. She would serve in the Royal Air Force, with a tour of duty in Egypt.  She married Stanley Olszyk on Oct. 12, 1962 in England.  He passed away June 13, 2021.

She was well-read and had many interests.  She was incredibly artistic, creating paintings, ceramics, and porcelain dolls.  An avid antique collector, she also sold antiques and was an expert on antique dolls.  She liked to knit, sew, enjoyed flowers, birds and bred dogs.

Surviving family includes: son, Stanley Christopher Olszyk (Teresa) of Westfield; two daughters, Elizabeth Olszyk (Lorraine Chan) of Virginia and Cathy Scott (Gary) of Romney; three grandchildren, Trevor Scott, Caitlin Scott and Hayden Olszyk; one great-grandson, Brooks Hankins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons, Philip and Roger Clay.

Visitation will start at 10 AM Monday, August 23 rd at Burkhart Funeral Home, 201 West Wabash Avenue, Crawfordsville.  Services will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at the Freedom Cemetery, north of Waveland.
