Geraldine "Gerry" Basham Orwig of Crawfordsville passed away Thursday morning at Bickford Memory Care.  She was 95.

She was a caseworker for the Dept. of Public Welfare for many years.  She was a long-time member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where she liked to contribute baked goods.  More recently she attended New Hope Christian Church. She liked to get together with her classmates, quilting, gardening, hospitality and entertaining people.

Born March 10, 1925 in Monroe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of James B. Gerald and Jerome "Roma" Hall Gerald.  She attended school at Crawfordsville and graduated from Ladoga High School, class of 1943.  She married Moman "Red" Basham June 1, 1946.  He passed away June 10, 1979.  She married Dwight Orwig Jan. 16, 1982 and he passed away July 19, 2007.

Surviving family includes: son, Brad Basham (Susan) of Normal, Illinois; daughter, Tamara Taylor (Samuel) of Greenwood; two grandsons, Brandon Basham and Trevor Basham, both of Normal; great-granddaughter, Braelynn; two step-sons, David Orwig (Donna) of Ladoga, Dean Orwig (Clare) of Indianapolis; step-granddaughter, Cindy Orwig; three step-grandsons, Gerald Orwig (Dakota), Karl Orwig, Miles Orwig; sister, Imogene Clouse of Snellville, Georgia; two nieces, Terri Dodge and Jerri Haas, along with several other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 Saturday, Sept. 12 at Burkhart Funeral Home, Crawfordsville.  Social distancing will be expected and wearing a mask recommended.  Services will begin at 11 AM, followed by interment at Oak Hill Cemetery Grant Ave.
