Obituary

Gerald "Scott" Gobel

November 29,1970-April 23, 2020

Scott Gobel of Westfield, formerly of Crawfordsville passed away last Thursday night after bravely facing multiple medical issues. Scott was born November 29,1970 to Gerald and Nancy (Graves) Gobel. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1989 and received a Turf Management degree in 1995 from Horry- Georgetown Technical College. He was married to his high school sweetheart Karen Ledgerwood in 1996. They later divorced.

After working as a golf course superintendent, landscape designer and greenhouse owner, he began what he believed to be the best job ever...a Fly Fishing Guide. Fly fishing was his passion and he loved to introduce others to the sport. He also enjoyed creating and tying custom fishing flies and often taught classes in this hobby. Scott worked closely with two charities which use the sport of fly fishing to reach and encourage people facing difficulties. Project Healing Waters, which is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans, and also Casting for Recovery, who provide breast cancer education and peer support to women in all stages of breast cancer treatment and recovery.

Scott is survived by his parents, daughters Delaney and Lily Gobel of Crawfordsville and his sister, Shanna Kordenbrock (Kris) of Visalia, KY. He was preceded in death by grandparents Bob and Betty Gobel and Robert and Carolyn Graves.

The family will gather May 6th at 3:30 to celebrate Scott's life. This service will be available online through Burkhart Funeral Home.
