George "Tinker" Dowell of Linnsburg passed away Friday at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. He was 61.

Born October 24, 1959 at Crawfordsville, he was the son of George Dowell and Nancy (Payne) Dowell Russell. On July 12, 1990 he married Twila Wright. She Survives.

He earned an Associate's Degree from Oakland University and was an HVAC technician for MacLellan HVAC and Mechanical. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking and loved spending time with his grandkids.

Surviving family members include: his wife, Twila Dowell; son Dustin Brock of Crawfordsville; granddaughter they adopted as a daughter, Josalyn Dowell; grandson Ephraim Brock of Indianapolis; granddaughter Willow Brock. Also surviving are sisters Melanie (Jim) Thurston of Crawfordsville, Frances (Tim) Stephens of Michigan; brothers Jack Russell of Crawfordsville and Donald Dowell of Oregon.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Calvin Dowell.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 13 ^th from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Burkhart Funeral Home of Crawfordsville. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery North.
